HI THERE

Introduction.jpg

I’ll be honest: this feels like a really strange time to launch a blog. Especially since I purchased this domain a few years ago, and then just let it sit. And did absolutely nothing with it, because I wasn’t completely clear on what I wanted it to be. This year, with a lot of extra time on my hands, I realized I needed to get out of my own way. Literally.

I don’t want this space to be solely about myself. Yes, most of the content will be written from my point of view, at least initially, but my aim is to create a space that reflects diversity, provokes thought, supports sustainability, and moves you to curate your own life.

The Edit

This is where you can find personal essays, reviews of the latest books, shows, and exhibits, and notes on style.

Vanity

My passion for beauty runs deep. At the tender age of twelve and still two years away from being allowed to wear makeup, I immersed myself in skincare and followed everything artists like Pat McGrath, Bobbi Brown, and Kevyn Aucoin had to say on the subject of beauty. In my twenties I worked as a makeup artist, and witnessing the transformative power of the right products sparked my passion for empowering women with honest recommendations. Because I already love buying and trying the latest, I’m committed to sharing my thoughts only on cosmetics I’ve spent my own money on.

Decorgasm

I was fortunate to grow up around several people who each had a distinctive decorating style but shared impeccable taste. Several years ago, before I could afford a designer, I tried to apply everything I had learned osmotically to make a home that truly captured who I am. Since then, even with a larger budget, I’ve found I prefer to hunt for the perfect pieces and put them together myself. There are plenty of bloggers already doing midcentury modern well, and you won’t find any here. My style tends toward Gustavian, with some whimsy, inspiration from nature, and eclectic juxtaposition thrown in.

Postcards

Like everyone else, I’m ready to leave town and explore new places again! Until that glorious day arrives, I’ll be sharing stories from my previous adventures, everything from the most noteworthy wineries in California to how to elope in Paris. Come hungry—my husband calls me the restaurant whisperer for my knack for scouting out the top spots.

Gifted

Gifts are my love language. If you need the perfect present for a housewarming party, birthday, or baby shower, you’re sure to find it in my evergreen gift guide. I love to find new useful gamechangers and objets d’art, so check back often.

I am thrilled to finally launch this passion project and I can’t wait to hear what you think. Thanks for being here, babes!
